Bakken Shale Rig Count Increases by Three

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count jumped this week by three, with Baker Hughes reporting 49 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.  

In recent Bakken News, the U.S. Census Bureau is reporting that every county in the Bakken Shale region experienced a decrease in population between 2015 and 2016.

A total of 933 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, an increase of six over last week. 186 rigs targeted natural gas (one more than the previous week) and 747 were targeting oil in the U.S. (six more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 49 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

Bakken oil rigs were at 49 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices dipped to $44.74 on Friday afternoon. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $3.04/mmbtu by midday.

U.S. Rig Count Increases; Bakken Holds Steady

The rig count across the U.S. continues to increase as 11 more rigs were brought online this week. The Bakken-Three Forks rig count remained steady with Baker Hughes reporting 46 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.  

In recent Bakken News, Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. has announced that the Dakota Access Pipeline is now pumping Bakken crude oil.

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count gained one this week, with Baker Hughes reporting 46 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.  

A total of 916 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, an increase of eight over last week. 182 rigs targeted natural gas (three less than the previous week) and 733 were targeting oil in the U.S. (11 more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 46 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken oil rigs were at 46 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices at $47.66 on Friday afternoon. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $3.00/mmbtu by midday.

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count increased by one this week, with Baker Hughes reporting 45 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.  

In recent Bakken news, the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) is scheduled to begin operations on June 1st.

A total of 901 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, an increase of 16 over last week. 180 rigs targeted natural gas (eight more than the previous week) and 720 were targeting oil in the U.S. (eight more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)  44 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.
