The Bakken-Three Forks rig count remained steady this week with Baker Hughes reporting 50 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.

A total of 936 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, four less than last week. 187 rigs were targeting natural gas (- 2) and 748 were targeting oil in the U.S. (-2). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)   50 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

50 rigs targeted oil in the Bakken this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices at $49.29 on Friday afternoon. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.86/mmbtu by midday.

Bakken Shale Region Loses More Drilling Rigs

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count declined this week with Baker Hughes reporting 49 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.

A total of 935 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, one less than last week. 190 rigs targeted natural gas (+ four) and 744 were targeting oil in the U.S. (- five). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 49 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

49 rigs targeted oil in the Bakken this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices at $50.66 on Friday afternoon. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.96/mmbtu by midday.
