Bakken Rig Count Holds Steady
The Bakken-Three Forks rig count stayed flat this week with 62 rigs running across our coverage area by end of the week on Friday.
In recent Bakken news, the EIA is reporting that oil production data for the Bakken region shows a year-over-year decline for the first time in more than a decade.

A total of 757 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week. 193 were targeting natural gas (the same as the previous week) and 564 were targeting oil in the U.S. (10 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)63are in ND alone.
Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs
The Bakken oil rigs were at 62 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices trading at $42.11 on Friday afternoon. WTI-Brent increased $.76landing at $45.22. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures increasing slightly to $2.17/mmbtu by midday.

- 58 rigs are drilling horizontal wells
- 3 rigs are drilling directional wells
- 1 rigs are drilling vertical wells
