New Regulations For Fracking on Public Lands

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count remained flat at 97 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Bakken news, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) finalized new rules on that will regulate hydraulic oil and gas fracturing on public and tribal lands. The ruling could potentially impact more than 90,000 oil and gas wells and set a precedent for future regulations.

The U.S. rig count fell another 21 to 1048 rigs running as of today. A total of 233 rigs were targeting natural gas (down nine from the previous week) and 814 were targeting oil in the U.S. (41 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)97 rigs are running in the Williston Basin across MT, ND, and SD. 96 are in ND alone.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

The number of oil rigs stayed remained at 97 rigs running by midday. WTI oil prices increased $4.33 from the previous week, trading at $50.05/bbl on Friday afternoon. The WTI-Brent saw an increase of $2.57 by week’s end, landing at $57.70. There are currently no natural active gas rigs in the area and futures are trading at $2.61/mmbtu by midday.

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count decreased by five t0 97 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent Bakken news, a study reveals that Williston, N.D. is experiencing population growth that is ten times the normal rate. Infrastructure maintenance and improvements are a growing concern throughout the state as growing populations and oil equipment demands have taxed the current roadways and services.

The U.S. rig count fell another 56 to 1069 rigs running as of today. A total of 242 rigs were targeting natural gas (down 15 from the previous week) and 825 were targeting oil in the U.S. (41 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)99 rigs are running in the Williston Basin across MT, ND, and SD. 96 are in ND alone.

The number of oil rigs decreased by five t0 97 rigs running by midday. WTI oil prices increased $.91 from the previous week, trading at $45.72/bbl on Friday afternoon. The WTI-Brent saw an increase of $.47 by week’s end, landing at $55.14. There are currently no natural active gas rigs in the area and futures are trading at $2.79/mmbtu by midday.

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count decreased by four t0 102 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent Bakken news, two separate accidents across the Williston last week have added to the growing concern about Bakken oil safety and is fueling the intense debate about the way oil is produced, contained and transported in the United States.

The U.S. rig count fell another 67 to 1125 rigs running as of today. A total of 257 rigs were targeting natural gas (down 11 from the previous week) and 866 were targeting oil in the U.S. (56 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)101 rigs are running in the Williston Basin across MT, ND, and SD. 104 are in ND alone.

The number of oil rigs decreased by four t0 102 rigs running by midday. WTI oil prices decreased by $4.37 from the previous week, trading at $44.81/bbl on Friday afternoon. The WTI-Brent saw a decrease of $4.75 by week’s end, landing at $54.67. Natural gas rigs decreased by four with futures trading at $2.73/mmbtu by midday.

In recent Bakken news, Whiting Petroleum announced a record 2014 and revealed a 2015 spending plan that includes reducing Bakken rig count.

A total of 268 rigs were targeting natural gas (down 12 from the previous week) and 922 were targeting oil in the U.S. (64 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)108 rigs are running in the Williston Basin across MT, ND, and SD. 105 are in ND alone.

The number of oil rigs decreased by 3 t0 106 rigs running by midday. WTI oil prices decreased by $1.32 from the previous week, trading at $49.18/bbl on Friday afternoon. The WTI-Brent saw a decrease of $0.97 by week’s end, landing at $59.42. Natural gas rigs decreased by four with futures trading at $2.82/mmbtu by midday.

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count decreased by 12 t0 109 rigs running across our coverage area by the end of last week.

In recent Bakken news, Governor Dalrymple of North Dakota signed legislation that grants massive emergency funding to counties and cities statewide in order to bolster the lagging infrastructure. The bulk of the money is targeted to fix roadways and bridges that have not been able to keep up with the increased traffic of heavy oil field equipment that the shale boom has brought to the Bakken area.

The U.S. rig count fell another 43 to 1267 rigs running by the end of last week. A total of 280 rigs were targeting natural gas (down nine from the previous week) and 986 were targeting oil in the U.S. (33 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)111 rigs are running in the Williston Basin across MT, ND, and SD. 108 are in ND alone.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

The number of oil rigs decreased by 12 t0 109 rigs running by the end of the week . WTI oil prices decreased by $1.66 from the previous week, trading at $48.84/bbl on Friday afternoon. The WTI-Brent saw an increase decrease of $96 by week’s end, landing at $61.35. Natural gas rigs remained flat with futures trading at $2.71/mmbtu by the end of last week.
