Bakken Operators Bring Rigs Back Online

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count increased by one this week with Baker Hughes reporting 29 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Bakken news, Pioneer Resources report strong second quarter results including exceptional performance from their Bakken assets.

A total of 479 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, and increase from last week of17. 83 were targeting natural gas (two more than the previous week) and 396 were targeting oil in the U.S. (15 more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 29 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

Bakken oil rigs were at 29 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices at $44.49 on Friday afternoon. WTI-Brent ended the week a bit higher with Bloomberg reporting $46.97. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.60/mmbtu by midday.

Bakken Rig Count Gains One This Week

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count gained one this week with Baker Hughes reporting 28 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

A total of 462 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, up two from last week. 81 were targeting natural gas (five less than the previous week) and 381 were targeting oil in the U.S. (seven more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 28 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

Bakken oil rigs were at 28 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices at $41.66 on Friday afternoon. WTI-Brent ended the week a bit higher with Bloomberg reporting $44.07. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.78/mmbtu by midday.

Bakken Rigs Remain Flat for Third Week

For the third week in a row, the Bakken-Three Forks rig count has stalled with Baker Hughes reporting 27 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Bakken news, Australian-based, Samson Oil & Gas Ltd. plans to sell its interest in the North Stockyard field in North Dakota in order to reduce its debt. The deal is scheduled to close on August 31st, 2016.

Bakken oil rigs were at 27 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices dipping to $41.60 on Friday afternoon. WTI-Brent also ended the week lower with Bloomberg reporting $43.53. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.88/mmbtu by midday.

Bakken Rig Count Stalls

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count has stalled as rigs counts increase around the country. The region remained flat this week with Baker Hughes reporting 27 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Bakken news, the North Dakota’s attorney general filed a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), citing concerns that the new rules are “arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion and not in accordance with law."

A total of 459 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, up 13 over last week. 88 were targeting natural gas (one less than the previous week) and 371 were targeting oil in the U.S. (14 more than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 27 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken oil rigs were at 27 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices dipping to $44.19 on Friday afternoon. WTI-Brent also ended the week lower with Bloomberg reporting $45.69. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.78/mmbtu by midday.
