Bakken Shale Rig Count Increases to 53

Bakken Shale Rig Count

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count saw an increase this week this week, with Baker Hughes reporting 53 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.

A total of 944 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, four more over last two weeks. 187 rigs targeted natural gas ( an increase of seven) and 756 were targeting oil in the U.S. (decreased by three). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 53 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

53 rigs targetted oil in the Bakken this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices at $47.48 on Friday afternoon. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.89/mmbtu by midday.

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count inched up this week, with Baker Hughes reporting 52 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.

A total of 940 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, six less than last week. 180 rigs targeted natural gas (two less than the previous week) and 759 were targeting oil in the U.S. (four less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.) 52 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

52 rigs targetted oil in the Bakken this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices at $47.87 on Friday afternoon. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $2.89/mmbtu by midday.

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count dropped by two, with Baker Hughes reporting 51 rigs running through our coverage area by Friday midday.

A total of 946 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, three less than last week. 182 rigs targeted natural gas (one more than the previous week) and 763 were targeting oil in the U.S. (five less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)   51 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

U.S. Rig Counts Drop; Bakken Remains Flat

Rig counts across the United States are also down. 

In recent Bakken Shale news, Continental Resources reports its Bakken team doubled their rate of return during the second quarter while achieving impressive efficiency gains.
