The Bakken-Three Forks rig count fell this week with 59 rigs running across our coverage area by end of the week on Friday.

In recent Bakken news, it's been one year since OPEC annoucned it would not decrease production and while the year has been brutal, shale is hardly dead.

A total of 737 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week.192 were targeting natural gas (three more than the previous week) and 545 were targeting oil in the U.S. (10 less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)59are in ND alone.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

The Bakken oil rigs were at 59 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices trading at $39.97 on Friday afternoon. WTI-Brent decreased $1.86landing at $43.00 The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures decreasing to $2.19/mmbtu by midday.

  • 57 rigs are drilling horizontal wells
  • 1 rigs are drilling directional wells
  • 1 rigs are drilling vertical wells
