Bakken Rig Count Back to 32

The Bakken-Three Forks rig count falls back this week, with Baker Hughes reporting 32 rigs running across our coverage area by midday Friday.

In recent Bakken news, North Dakota lawmakers face a massive loss in revenue as they settle into week two of the 2017 legislative session.

A total of 658 oil and gas rigs were running across the United States this week, a loss of six over last week. 136 rigs targeted natural gas (one more than the previous week) and 522 were targeting oil in the U.S. (seven less than the previous week). The remainder were drilling service wells (e.g. disposal wells, injection wells, etc.)  32 of the rigs active in the U.S. were running in North Dakota.

Bakken Oil & Gas Rigs

Bakken oil rigs were at 32 this week with Bloomberg reporting WTI oil prices dipping slightly to $52.55 on Friday afternoon. Prices for WTI-Brent also fell per barrel to $55.67. The Bakken has zero natural active gas rig in the area this week with futures trading at $3.46/mmbtu by midday.
